The incredible trick to make your shoes white again

White clothes are a difficult temptation in life. We all look great in white. If it is your wedding day and you wear white you are going to look stunning. If you wear a white T-shirt and jeans, you are going to look stunning. If you wore a white plastic bag you would probably still look stunning. One of the nicest pieces of clothing that you can wear in white is, of course, the shoe. A white pair of sneakers, a white pair of high heels, a white pair of football boots, they can all make an outfit incredible. Yet the difficult part of this wonderful color is that it gets dirty fast and it doesn’t take long for it to become absolutely ruined forever. Luckily we have come across a video online with an incredible hack of how to get your shoes to sparkle white even when they have been sparkling brown for quite some time. Read on to find out more.

Faith Chappelle is based in Canada and has been running a YouTube Vlog series for a long time, joining YouTube back in 2015. In that time she hasn’t been incredibly active with only around thirty videos uploaded to her channel to date. Yet a number of these videos have gone viral due to the content and her unique views. One of her most popular videos, for example, is a reaction to a Lil Dicky music video with over 100,000 views to date.

Yet that video has been blown out of the park by a recent video where Faith shares her number one secret on how to make your shoes sparkle white. The video at present has almost 1 million views and at the rate of growth is likely to eclipse that total soon. In the video, Faith shows one shoe that is incredibly white and looks almost brand new beside its pair that is now brown, and ugly. If you showed me this opening image only I would guess that she never cleaned the white shoe and simply had one new one and one dirty one. Yet as the video progresses we get to actually watch as she makes the formerly brown shoe as white as its partner.

Faith starts by soaking the shoes in a basin of lukewarm water. The water should have a drop of detergent in it. After this step, she covers the shoes in toothpaste! It may sound strange and it certainly looks strange but trust us it will work. It is, of course, important to choose a white toothpaste as you likely don’t want to end up with red and blue stripes all over your shoes. In the video, Faith is using Colgate whitening toothpaste so if in doubt that is your best option.

Once that is done you need to take an unused toothbrush and vigorously scrub the shoes. The active ingredient here is the baking soda. The abrasive soda helps to remove stains from the shoes, in the same way, that it helps to remove stains from our teeth. After that, you should spray the shoes with some Oxi clean spray and Oxi Action powder and then leave them to soak in bleach for six hours. I know this sounds like a lot of steps but it is worth it for the final result.

Because the shoes are covered in bleach it is a smart move to then throw them in the washing machine for and allowing them to air dry. Once dry you should now be looking at a pair of incredibly white shoes. Faith does warn that this process doesn’t work for all shoe materials so only try it if you have reached the point of giving up on your pair and are willing to test out this dramatic approach.
