Health Products That We’re Wasting Money On

by Sofia Mallek
June 30, 2025

There are a lot of health care products out there today. However, many of the health care products are a waste of money because there is not any scientific evidence to suggest that they actually work. You don’t need to waste money on the following products.

Vitamin C

Many people stock up on vitamin C during the winter time because they think that it will help them prevent the cold and flu. Linus Pauling won the Nobel Prize in 1970 because he had a theory that said vitamin C can prevent colds. However, there has not been a lot of scientific evidence to support that.

Taking vitamin C won’t necessarily prevent you from getting a cold. However, if you have sufficient amounts of vitamin C in your body, then this can shorten the duration of your cold. You don’t have to pay for vitamin C supplements. You can get plenty of vitamin C from leafy green vegetables and citrus fruits.

Homeopathy

Homeopathy is a field that involves using natural remedies to treat various illnesses. For example, lavender is used to treat tension headaches. Ginger is used to treat headaches. However, there is not any scientific evidence to suggest that homeopathy actually works.

Sugar substitutes

You have probably heard that sugar is fueling the obesity epidemic. That is why more people are turning to sugar substitutes. However, there is not enough evidence to suggest that using sugar substitutes can help you lose weight. Experts also agree that there needs to be more research done in order to examine the effects that sugar substitutes have on health.

Probiotics

Health experts have stated that there is a strong correlation between gut health and overall health. That is why many of them recommend that you take probiotics. The probiotics are found in yogurt and milkshakes. Many claim that probiotics can help improve gut health.

However, if you find yourself constantly buying them, then you may be wasting your money. Probiotics won’t change your gut bacteria much if you are a healthy person.

Juice diets

Many people start their year off by trying to lose weight. That is why juice diets are so popular. Proponents of juice diets claim that they can help detoxify your body, lose weight and improve your health.

However, juice diets have caused a lot of controversy. Many health experts have stated that juice diets can increase the risk of diabetes. Juices contain a lot of sugar and no fiber. There has also not been any evidence to suggest that juicing can help you lose weight. In fact, some research suggests that people who follow a juice diet may actually consume more calories.
