It seems that many of the amenities offered on international airline flights of yesteryear have fizzled out into nothing more than a bag of peanuts and a Coke. Furthermore, those flights offered drink choices that were impressive, and flight attendants seemed focused on the passengers’ comfort as much as on their safety. It is possible that Delta Airlines is trying to make a comeback on these benefits.
Delta making a luxurious comeback
Delta is now debuting main cabin service that offers welcome cocktails, soothing hot wet towels, and dining that will make you think you’re in a fine bistro.
Delta’s new main cabin service offered on international routes may be viewed as paralleling those offered in penthouse restaurants, offering passengers not only transportation, but also leaving them feeling like they’ve been in a 5-star restaurant with complimentary Bellini’s and moist hot towels to welcome them aboard the aircraft.
Delta is embracing a new marketing strategy wherein their focus is upon every passenger, embracing them as not only passengers but as customers who support their airline. No longer will First Class be the only passengers who get treated like royalty while those in the “coach” cabin feel like there is such an obvious social-economic tiering of the customers.
Impressively, the behemoth airline turned to their own flight attendants when brainstorming the new endeavor that is focused on passenger customer service and comfort. Their objective was to deliver such exceptional customer experience that potential passengers choose Delta because they are seeking to be pampered and appreciated for spending their hard-earned or entrepreneurial budget on the services and the commitment offered by Delta’s team.
What to expect on these new menus?
Delta passengers on these flights can expect to be served impressive cuisine that parallels that from the finest dining establishments; fancy entrees with all the frills are followed by enticing desserts to highlight the passengers’ journey.
Not only is the food impressive; the airline’s sustainability commitment also offers the delights mentioned above served on recyclable materials that are bio-based.
It’s not all about the food
Not only will passengers feel like they’ve dined in a “sky high” bistro, they should also arrive at their destination feeling like they’ve had a refreshing and restful journey instead of feeling tired and frazzled from stressful travel. This is accomplished in part by the addition of other small but effective amenities such as earbuds and headsets.
What’s the fine print?
This new plan has been rolled out on international flights scheduled for 6.5 hours or longer. It is also an option on shorter international flights and referred to as “Delta One” or “Delta Premium Select” where available.
Success thus far
This reinvented Main Cabin service has been tested on hundreds of international flights between the northwestern United States and Japan. Evaluation of the new program is being audited via feedback from customer surveys, crew response, and critique by the many flight attendants who were participants in this impressive brainchild. So far, the report card is looking quite favorable.
