Removing grease and oil stains from your expensive leather purse is a very tricky task. But don’t worry, nothing is impossible. The marks of the remains of the oil might look permanent but can be removed by following the tips mentioned below.

Make your stained leather purse new by using one of the techniques below

Using talcum powder

  • Firstly, take a damp microfiber cloth to remove the stain of oil or grease. After cleaning as much as possible, cover the stain generously with the talcum powder or any other absorbent powder like cornstarch.
    • Then, allow the powder to stay on the purse overnight. It will draw out all the grease and moisture from the leather purse.
    • Brush off the powder in the morning to have a purse with no stains. Then, wipe the stained area with a soft and damp cloth to remove the leftover powder.
    • Use warm water with a grease-cutting detergent to remove the stain, if any.
    • Let it dry and then see the final results of using this method, which is a new looking purse.
    • Use this method immediately to get assured results. But if you let the stains sit for long, then it might only lighten them.

Handmade cleaning solution

  • First of all, you need to collect all the ingredients that you need to make a homemade leather purse cleaning solution. For that, you must collect distilled water, white flour, sea salt, and baking soda.
    • Make a paste form by mixing these ingredients in a bowl. Use 1/8 cup of sea salt, 3/8 cup of distilled water, one tablespoon baking soda, and 1/2 teaspoon white flour.
    • These items are very much useful to lift grease from the leather grains of your leather purse or any other item.
    • Perform a patch test before using it directly to the stain. If your leather is dyed, then it can affect the colors.
    • Get a soft cloth to apply the paste on the test area, and if it works, then you must apply the paste on the affected area. Gently dab it and do not scrub it to ensure better results.
    • Clean the area gently with another cloth after the cleaning solution is absorbed. Obliterating the stains might take several attempts, but you must continue to do it. Make sure to perform the cleaning process again once the leather purse is normalized from the earlier effort.

Some more homemade cleaning agents

  • There is a wide range of homemade cleaning agents that have varying degrees of success rate. Use these natural products to make your leather purse look as clean as you want.
  • Use one part of vinegar and two parts of linseed oil.
  • Use equal parts of white vinegar and lemon juice.
  • Use equal parts of lemon juice and tartar cream.

Use these methods to get rid of the stubborn grease and oil stains from your expensive leather purse, boots, or jackets. The above-mentioned tricks have proven to be very efficient and cost-effective. Try these homemade techniques to get the spectacular shine of your leather purse back!
